Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
This videogame edition of the World Series of Poker tournament (WSOP) is based on the 2005 tournament held at Harrah's Rio Suites in Las Vegas. This is the only video game that allows players to feel the same intensity, excitement and authenticity of playing at a WSOP table and winning the championship. Players will square off against top pros in a setting that mimics the actual WSOP main event, capturing the single most driving popularity factor, to go from the unknown to a champion. So, it's time to ante-up and play like a pro with the pros.

5 out of 5 stars A very worthwhile game   September 6, 2005

I was extremely disappointed with last year's World Championship Poker. The AI was horrible, you had to sit through each hand, even if you're not in it. The WSOP has been a great surprise. The AI is actually pretty competitive, and you have the option of fast forwarding through a hand you're not in. The career mode makes the game great. Instead of just playing one season over and over, you can keep going from year to year, increasing your bankroll as you go. All of the unlockable features (pro players, special chips, card rooms, etc) and the invitational tourneys give it even more replay value. I wish there could've been a few more pros in the game, but the ones that there are are great. All things said, this is a great game.

5 out of 5 stars This game is all I expected it to be.   December 28, 2005

I got this game for my birthday thinking it would be better than playing online with a bunch of random idiots. Since I only play for money in real life, it made a lot of sense. This game has been all I expected it to be and more.

While the graphics are not the greatest, I can't complain. How great do they really need to be when all you are doing is playing your cards? Game play is good. Selection of games is also good with Omaha, 7 Card Stud, Holdem, and Razz with tournaments with over 6000 players to single table "invite only" games.

While it may not be an 'honest' player's game, since you can save when you have a high chip count so you can always start again when you are in a good spot (which makes it fun to screw around and go all in a couple times after a save just to see if you can double up!!) it's a great poker game.

I got this as a Christmas gift and I LOVE it.
This is the kind of game you look forward to playing after work. Kids will be bored, but if you've ever played Texas Hold 'Em, or watched it on TV you will enjoy this. I like playing in "career mode" the best, where you can design your own character and go toe to toe with the pro players. I agree that the graphics are not the greatest. Who cares?!? This isn't Grand Theft Auto, it's a card game. If you want to work on your poker game, relax, and have a blast, you can't pass this one up.

5 out of 5 stars "All In"   August 20, 2005
Wewill1992 (Pittsburgh, PA USA)
From what I have seen this game out of all poker games will be the best. It features 13 pros including Chris "Jesus" Ferguson and Gus Hansen. The presentation is as realistic as you would see it on a real ESPN broadcast. This game has four different modes of play including quick play. Also it does have Texas Hold Em'. This game is made by Activision. Also it is rated E for everyone ten years old and up. If you don't want to wait for the other two good poker games (World Championship Poker 2 Featuring Howard Lederer and World Poker Tour 2k6) then this is the game for you to buy.

5 out of 5 stars Great Poker game...better then the rest...   July 6, 2006
Danny M. Rizzo (Las Vegas, Nevada United States)
This one is real. A Doyle hand is a 10/3. Players go "all in" on it in real life. I live in vegas and see this all the time. It is gambling. This one game is better then WCP2 and Stacked. I have all of them. This one has all the features you want. Realistic hands. You lose with A/K or Pocket rockets sometimes. Quick play. Good graphics. Cool intros. Chips are on the table (stacked doesn't even have a stack of chips!), players walk away (stacked player's turn black!), ESPN coverage!, extra custom players if you like colors you could adjust RGB as needed! cool feature. Cool music. Options to change tons of stuff. Great games and really fun gameplay. Decent interface with decent videos if you win (could be better though). It is like watching espn sometimes.
