4 out of 5 stars Very Gorey   December 18, 2008
This is a fantastic 'mature' game. Sure there is sexuality, but mainly I think it's most mature factor is all the gore. Once you beat it though, it's replay is limited. This game pushes the graphics envelope for the PS2, and looks more like a Gamecube or even an Xbox game in terms of graphics. (Technically speaking, the PS2 has weaker graphics than it's generational competition, but you can't tell by looking at this game).

Only gave it 4 stars overall due to limited playback after initially beating the game.

2 out of 5 stars God Of The Balance Beam   November 24, 2008

Where to start? Well, God of War is a very over-rated game. It has it's high points but overall it will leave you frustated and screaming "I hate this game!" at the top of your lungs.
While the title is filled with some highly stylized and fun action, it never really develops and you end up fighting the same enemies over and over again. They evolve but they don't become more of a challenge, they just become more annoying as you are continuously stunned while you mash the opposition.
However, the fighting is NOT the low-point of this game. The game, boiled down, is little more than a gymnastics competition with more floor displays than a 12 year-old(*Ahem* 16, right?) Chinese gymnast; minus the talent and entertainment. Level-designs do not advance or become anything better. You are constantly forced to walk along planks high up in the air while evading moronic things like spinning blades or climbing up moving walls littered with spikes. What happens? Well, you end up spending hours falling down, dying, and (here's where the screaming comes in) yelling at the TV.
The end boss fight is particularly horrible. In typical Power Rangers fasion, you morph into a giant to face off against Ares for the title of God of War. I couldn't help but wonder where the Megazord was. To be fair the fight is challenging, but not in a fun way.
In conclusion, there are some beautiful visuals, a decent story, and some stylish combat. However, this does not over come the repetitive action and horrible level design that ultimately dooms the title.
Bottomline: God of War is not the game it's hyped up to be.

5 out of 5 stars BITING THE BLADES OF CHAOS   October 30, 2008
Basically you are a power hungry Spartan general named Kratos who sells his soul to "Ares" the god of war in return for victory.Driven by rage you conquer anyone loyal to the goddess Athena until one incident sets you on the path to your true destiny, you must destroy the God of War.To succeed you must fight legions of cyclops',undead soldiers,Minotaurs and countless other mythological beasts in places such as Athens,Pandoras temple and even Hades itself. The story sucks you in and feels like an actual Greecian epic. With the aid of the Gods and the lust for vengeance to drive you on,God of War is one hard hitting/mind blowing gaming epic that's not to be missed. If you like your action over the top/angry and insist on a good story then look no further because God of War has it all.

5 out of 5 stars Greatest Action Adventure Game I Have Ever Played   October 23, 2008
God Of War is so much fun, from the gameplay mechanics, to watching the beautiful cinematics. As a Legend Of Zelda fan, I would have to say this game greatly exceeds any Zelda game I have ever played.

Ok maybe not THAAAT much, but if I was to rate Ocarina Of Time a 10, God Of War would be a 9. The storyline greatly exceeds any Zelda game, it is no contest. The only reason I would rate it below Zelda is because of the length of the game. A Zelda game could take me weeks, or months to finish. God Of War only took me 3 days

5 out of 5 stars sick,brutal gameplay   September 17, 2008
